Lectures and Seminars

Teaching Experience

Food Economics (Undergraduate)
Food is essential for human beings and a stable supply of food is an important issue. In this lecture, problems of Japanese agriculture are discussed from various points of view based on economics. We try to answer the following questions. First, how agriculture is different from other industries? Second, what should Japanese agriculture do under population aging and globalization? The purpose of this lecture is to understand basic agricultural economics and to become able to discuss problems related to agriculture appropriately in terms of economics.

Seminars (Undergraduate)

We discuss population, agriculture, and economic development in the seminar.

Seminars (Graduate/Postgraduate)

We research population, agriculture, and economic development in the seminar.

Message

Population has a strong influence on the economy and the economy affects population importantly. Population is increasing rapidly in developing countries, at the same time, fertility has been low in developed countries and the population is decreasing in some countries. Population economics tries to clarify how the population influences the economy and how the economy affects the population using theoretical and empirical methods of economics. Topics of population economics are related to many kinds of research fields such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, sociology, and public health. I am researching the effect of adult longevity on saving and economic growth. I enjoy my research and exchanging opinions with various researchers and students. I look forward to discussing with you about population and economy.
