On Thursday, November 16, Dean and Prof. Alma McCarthy of the Faculty of Economics, University of Galway (former National University of Ireland, Galway renamed in Fall 2022) visited the Faculty and Graduate School of Economics and School of Business Administration at Kobe University.

At the courtesy visit, Dean/Profs. Ryuzo Miyao and Katsuhiko Kokubu warmly welcomed Prof. McCarthy, joined by Prof. Eiichi Miyagawa, Chair of the International Exchange Committee and Res. Assoc. Junko Iwatsuki, International Academic Coordinator at the Faculty and Graduate School of Economics, and Assoc. Profs. Yukihiro Nishimura and Natsuko Tokaji, International Exchange Coordinators at the School of Business Administration.

In 2018, University of Galway and Kobe University entered into a student exchange agreement to foster an active academic relationship; however, the COVID-19 pandemic caused an interruption in this initiative. Dean McCarthy’s visit has served as an opportunity to reestablish and enhance the educational collaboration between the two universities.
