Professor Keijiro OTSUKA conferred with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for 2021 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Japanese Nationals

Professor Keijiro OTSUKA who is currently a specially appointed professor of the Graduate School of Economics, was conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for 2021 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Japanese Nationals.

The Order of the Sacred Treasure (Zuiho-sho) was established in 1888 by Emperor Meiji and recognizes individual achievements in research, business industries, healthcare, social work, state/local government fields or the improvement of life for handicapped/impaired persons. The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star (Zuiho-Juko-sho) is bestowed upon those who are recognized as particularly important in terms of the degree of responsibility and their services to the nation or public.

Prof. OTSUKA has been energetically conducting research activities in the field of development economics for many years and performed field research focused on agricultural and industrial development strategies with verifying the heterogeneity and similarities between Asia and Africa. At the same time, he carries out careful empirical analysis based on economic theory, achieves internationally renowned academic excellence, and makes efforts to expand the international joint research circle based on those achievements.

Prof. OTSUKA has received numerous honors and awards including the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon (awarded to those who have made inventions and discoveries in the field of science and technology and outstanding achievements in the fields of science, sports, and arts and culture) in the 2010 Spring Medals of Honor.
